A New Look for the Old Man

Published December 26th, 2018 by Oldmenadmin

After a year wandering in a waterless land, OMAI has finally found a new and capacious home with Optuno hosting the site.

The changes are many but subtle, keeping the same look and feel of the old site but improving functionality with mobile devices. With book 4 rapidly entering the editing phase, I expect to have enough creative juices to lost an occational comment and get the Occasional Newsletter to live up to its name.

Many real events have occurred recently. The ebook for Exiles' Escape has finally become available ($9.95 on AMZ) and the paperback price has been cut from $18.95 to an absurdly friendly price I will let your discover for yourself in the shop.

At this dying time of the year, I thought I would end this year, OMAI's 5th New Year, with Yeat's Second Coming.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
    The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
    The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
    The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

    Surely some revelation is at hand;
    Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
    The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
    When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
    Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
    A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
    A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
    Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
    Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

    The darkness drops again but now I know
    That twenty centuries of stony sleep
    Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
    And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
    Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
